The Museum of Orphaned ImagesNo, it's not images of orphans, not a scrapbook of forlorn, homeless kids. This is merely a collection of interesting and otherwise useless images belonging to this sitekeeper. I like them but if not for the type of display the internet makes possible they would have no purpose whatsoever. All of them, such as the one above of a visitor enjoying brunch in Coney Island, began as photographs. Most were taken in Brooklyn, New York. They have been digitally altered to various extents. Digital imaging technology gives us more choices. But it doesn't change the way we see things. Artistic perspective remains a matter of unique personal instinct, as intrinsic to an individual as a fingerprint. What is different is the range of manipulation and presentation possibilities. In recent years I have been experimenting with that range even as it has expanded in many directions. A few of the shots included on this site are slightly touched up. Others are tweaked beyond any resemblance to the original. My mode of presentation is unusual. You will not find the standard framed up slideshow. That is because I hate framed up slideshows. The images are each on a page with brief comments and the pages are linked according to elements they have in common. I think of it as yet another experiment. The aim is to recreate the feel of being in a museum or exhibit gallery where a visitor can explore in the way he or she finds most gratifying. This site is commercially oriented. It is set up to market books and materials that are mostly photographic in nature in association with Amazon (see below.) The photos support that effort but I intend that they will be available to anyone for such viewing pleasure as they may provide. So please look around all you want with no fear of corporate predation. Click the turnstile to get in and click the bright biped (the lightbulb with legs) you'll find should you want to get back here. Products For PhotographersIf you like the type of material this site presents you may wish to work with digital images or to take up photography yourself. Then please click the Golden Egg graphic to see some informational products you might want, offered in association with Amazon. Amazon is a great store in every respect. I'm a satisfied customer, myself. But shopping there can be daunting because of the sheer volume of merchandise you must choose from. Please consider the Golden Egg portion of my site as a specialty kiosk where you can find links to those of Amazon's products relevant to photographers. General merchandise shoppers will find the link or search box below useful. YOU PAY NOTHING EXTRA AND INCUR NO ADDITIONAL RISK by using these links. I have placed them here in the hope that they will be useful and that a number of you will simply use them when you wish to make a purchase. In doing so you will make it possible for me to keep this site going. (Yes, it's a free site - Much thanks, Tripod - but it's hand coded and it takes time and effort.) So if you find it useful or if you just plain like it please click in here at the start of your next shopping binge. |

If you want to try other photo sites the Webring will easily find some for you. Exploration is fun but always risky, even here. So mind how you go; some of the things you will find are not for kids. |
